Collection: Herbal & Caffeine-Free Tea

Our caffeine-free tea collection brings together our herbal and rooibos blends, which are naturally caffeine-free, along with a few decaf black teas for anyone who wants the taste of black tea later in the day. Herbal teas are made from plants other than the tea plant, such as rooibos, honeybush, chamomile, mint, roasted barley, chicory, fruit and flowers. Decaf black teas start as real tea leaves, so they keep a trace of caffeine.

Rooibos and herbal blends

Rooibos brews into a smooth, naturally sweet cup that carries rich flavors well: Silent Night tastes of chocolate ganache and nutmeg, and Negroni of orange marmalade and gentian. For something fresh, Capri pairs honeydew melon with peppermint, and Cult of Demeter is a roasted barley tisane with cocoa and aniseed. Herbal blends are forgiving to brew: use water at a full boil and steep 5 to 7 minutes.

Decaf and very low caffeine

Decaf blends such as Decaf Dark Iris start with tea leaves and have most of their caffeine removed, so a small amount remains. Each product page states the caffeine level.

Most blends come in 15-cup bags ($14.99) and 70-cup bags ($44.99), and our ten-blend herbal sampler is an easy way to taste widely. The Tea Trio takes 10% off any 3 items automatically, and US orders over $45 ship free.

Caffeine-free tea FAQ

Is herbal tea caffeine-free?

Yes. Herbal and rooibos teas are not made from the tea plant, so they contain no caffeine naturally. Every herbal and rooibos blend in this collection is caffeine-free.

Are the decaf teas in this collection caffeine-free?

Not completely. Decaf black teas such as Decaf Low Country and Decaf Dark Iris start as black tea and have most of their caffeine removed, so a trace remains. If you want no caffeine at all, choose a herbal or rooibos blend.

What does rooibos taste like?

Rooibos brews a smooth, naturally sweet cup with a gentle nutty note and no bitterness. It carries dessert flavors well, like chocolate in Silent Night or pumpkin and caramel in Psychocandy.

How do I brew herbal tea?

Use water at a full boil and steep for 5 to 7 minutes. Herbal blends are forgiving, so a longer steep simply gives a stronger cup.
